Jade Vine, or Strongyllodon Largeleaf
Have you ever seen one of the most beautiful plants on the planet called the jade vine? This is truly a miracle of nature, rightfully bearing its title. Let's find out more about this amazing and rarest plant on the planet.
Strongyldon, or Jade Vine (Strongylodon macrobotrys) - a plant of the legume family, a species of the genus Strongilodon, which grows wild in the tropical forests of the Philippine Islands. The plant is often cultivated in tropical and subtropical countries as an ornamental.
Largeylodon Strongylodon is a vine, which did not exist and does not exist analogues in beauty and amazingness. It is worth noting that the plant is truly unique, because beauty is "present" not only in thin leaves or elegant flowers, but is something whole, indivisible. No wonder the jade vine has earned the title of "the most beautiful and rare flower in the world."
Strongyloodon belongs to the legume family and many tribes of the Philippine Islands (the birthplace of the plant) were previously considered to be a type of ordinary bean. The jade vine has rather long stems, reaching a length of more than 20 meters, and lush flowers collected in inflorescences. Since there are several types of Strongylodon, it is impossible to say exactly where it began to grow for the first time. It is only known that the large-stemmedilodon (better known as the jade vine) was first discovered by the inhabitants of the Philippine Islands, long before the arrival of the first colonizers from Europe.
The flowers of the "Jade vine" are 7-12 cm in size, collected in large brushes up to 90 cm in length of several tens (up to a hundred pieces). The color of the flowers resembles a highly diluted solution of diamond greens. Strongylodon is large-pollinated by bats. The fruit is a bean up to 5 cm long and contains up to 12 seeds.
For a long time it was believed that the plant is not able to bloom. The fact is that the jade vine is a rather capricious flower and even in natural conditions gives lush inflorescences by no means always. So, the local inhabitants of the islands for a long time thought that a bean plant was absolutely unnecessary - from it there were no fruits, not even flowers. But the opinion changed when once on a plant they saw lush inflorescences of unusual beauty, reaching a length of about 90 centimeters. Their color was so bright and juicy that the plant was immediately dubbed jade, and the vine - since some species of this plant had creeping stems. As a result, we have already reached a plant with a long history - a jade vine.
To date, this plant is included in the list of protected species, since until recently it was even considered completely extinct. Currently, its cultivation is strictly controlled.
In the UK, the Royal Botanic Garden has a whole section for growing jade vines, where the best experts observe it. Despite the fact that this flower is rather capricious, it feels rather frivolous in the garden, which makes it possible to experiment with the development of new varieties of this marvelous and unlike other plants.
