Clematis, or clematis, is a flowering perennial vine, enchanting with its beauty. Basically, clematis is used for landscaping balconies and terraces, gazebos and fences.

If you decide to grow clematis on your personal plot, buy seedlings in specialized centers and from experienced collectors. It is best to purchase a seedling in a container with closed roots.

Clematis can be planted both from the north, and from the south. Most varieties of clematis prefer sunny places with some shaded roots. Raw, stagnant areas for clematis planting are not suitable. They buy and plant clematis only in the spring.

To plant clematis, prepare a landing pit with a diameter of at least 60 cm and a depth of at least half a meter. The bottom of the landing pit must be filled with a layer of crushed stone for drainage. A rather thick layer of turfy earth is poured on top of the gravel and compost is added. Also, when planting clematis, a glass of ash and a full handful of mineral fertilizers are added to the pit. The seedling, without violating the earthen coma on the roots, is planted in a prepared hole 12 cm below ground level. In order for the sapling to take root well and begin to develop, they do not completely fill the hole. In summer, in the process of clematis care, the pit will be completely filled with earth.

Clematis is very demanding on watering. Watering the plants is necessary once a week, in the first year of life spending 20 liters of water per seedling, and in the following years - 40 liters. In the heat, the amount of watering is increased. After watering, the land must be loosened and weeds removed.

3-5 times per season, clematis needs to be fed. Fertilize clematis with mullein solution or full mineral fertilizer. Top dressing is carried out mainly in the spring and during budding, as well as necessarily after flowering.

In the first year after planting clematis, a wooden or plastic pin can be used as a support for the plant, and for the next years, stronger supports are installed.

To make the liana flowering more plentiful, the shoot garter is very important. In the spring, after removing the winter shelter, the lower part of the shoots is tied as close to the ground as possible. When tying shoots of clematis, it should be borne in mind that more flowers are formed on horizontally located vines.

Many varieties of clematis are frost-resistant. Well-sheathed clematis for the winter can withstand temperature drops of up to 30 degrees. Cover the creepers with spruce branches and foil.
