Leaf-like Cactus (Phyllocactus). Large flowers appear on the stems and come in different colors - white, red and purple. The resulting fruit tastes good. These cacti can be propagated by seeds and cuttings. The soil is made up of sheet, light sod land and sand. Loves a bright location. In summer it requires good watering and spraying. After flowering, watering is reduced.

In April, before the start of the growing season, the cactus must be transplanted. It blooms from April to June. With good care, it can bloom again in the fall. Large-flowered hybrids that bloom for a long time are widely distributed in room culture.

Evident Cactus (Cereus). It is distinguished by columnar stems of various shapes. In the summer, it requires a sunny place and sufficient watering. If strong growth is found in the summer, the tops of the plants are slightly shortened. In the fall, watering is gradually reduced, and in winter, during dormancy, it is necessary to water rarely and moderately.

For better flowering, it is grown in small pots and rarely replanted - after 3-4 years. It grows better in an earthen mixture of sheet, sod land and coarse sand.

In the rooms, it is recommended to plant the following ceres:

  • Cereus the most beautifulhaving trihedral or tetrahedral stems. Blooms in the summer with beautiful bright scarlet flowers. For better growth and flowering, the bushes are tied to trellises.
  • Cereus large-floweredwho is also called the queen of the night. It blooms at night for several hours. The flowers are tubular, very large, up to 20 cm long. Differ in the original device and color. Outside they are golden yellow, and inside they are white. During flowering, they emit a pleasant vanilla odor.
  • Cereus nocturnal - very hardy in the rooms. It differs in even larger colors than the large-flowered cereus, but not smelling. He is called a night beauty.
  • Serpentine Cereus, or braided - a beautiful hanging cactus. Individual specimens have red, purple, and purple flowers.

Arthropod cactus (epiphyllum). This is the best of indoor cacti. Due to the simplicity of culture and endurance, it is widespread in indoor floriculture. It blooms most often in winter. It has beautiful, originally placed on the stem flowers of dark red, purple-red, carmine, white and other colors.

In the summer, epiphyllums should be kept on bright windows that are protected from direct sunlight, well-watered and sprayed from time to time. It should be borne in mind that if you dry the earth in pots or keep the plants in very dry air, they drop buds and do not bloom. When the plants have bloomed, watering should be gradually reduced.

Epiphyllum transplantation is best done before the start of growth - in April. The soil is prepared from sheet, light sod land and sand.

Epiphyllum is propagated by cuttings that are easily rooted. You can grow crown plants. To do this, they are grafted into the stambiks of a leaf-bearing cactus (Peirescia).

Echinocereus. Very similar to the svezhevidny cactus (cereus). In addition to beautiful flowers, it forms original painted spikes. Demanding for lighting, and in summer for good watering. During dormancy in the fall and winter, water little. For breeding take side offspring.

Along with cacti, green-leafy and variegated agaves, aloe tree or agave (medicinal plant), crassula, various sedums, echeveries and other succulent plants are grown in rooms that are interesting and hardy in room conditions.
