Many people fell in love with sorrel with its inimitable folding leaves, lush bushes and quivering flowers. This is one of the brightest seasonal indoor plants. And it is worth the light day to decline, as curly smart crumbs, which are so funny to watch in bad weather, fade. The nondescript appearance, the mass death of leaves, the loss of decorativeness by sour oxides in the fall is a typical but not obligatory phenomenon. Oxygen, with the exception of one species, can remain decorative even in winter. True, for this she needs special comfortable conditions and a slightly different care.

Content:
  • Ideal temperature and lighting
  • Neat watering and humidity
  • Feeding is not necessary to stop
  • Hygiene is a priority
  • Wintering of garden acidic acid in rooms
  • Winter offset for forcing flowering bushes

Ideal temperature and lighting

All sour, or oxalis (Oxalis) are conventionally divided into species that go through the complete dormant phase and dump leaves for wintering and those species that grow even in winter, depending on conditions, retaining or losing their decorative effect.

For the winter leaves only sour deppbetter known by the old name Four leaf sour, or Lucky Clover (Oxalis deppei, synonym - Oxalis tetraphylla) and its hybrids.

For this species, the temperature during the winter months should remain in the range of 9 to 12 degrees Celsius. Lighting for Depp acid does not matter, but in bright light early awakening is possible, so containers with the plant are charmingly set in shade. The duration of the cold and dark wintering period of a happy clover should not be less than 6-8 weeks.

The remaining types of sour acids (Ortgisa, Beauvais, pink, multi-colored, triangular or three-leafed, purple, etc.) can winter both at room temperature and in cool, but still can not stand the temperature drop below 12 degrees.

Read more about types of sour acid in the article Kislitsa, or Oxalis - sensitive "butterflies" on the windowsill.

An ideal temperature regime for wintering oxalis preserving leaves is 16 degrees. Possible fluctuations of indicators - from 13 to 18 degrees of heat. It is during a slightly cool wintering that the sour oxides continue to develop, they will not stretch and lose leaves in such large numbers. If the plants do not stimulate flowering, then the cool period is stretched until the start of an increase in daylight hours.

For leaves that retain leaves for the dormant period of souring, lighting is a key factor in the attractiveness of bushes. Oxalis quickly responds to insufficient lighting: if in the summer at first the sorrows only “hint” at a growth impairment, then in the winter in poor lighting the stalks-stalks do not just stretch, they become soft, wither, bushes drop leaves and look more and more neglected, losing their decorativeness literally on eyes.

In winter, for oxalyses, it is necessary to compensate for the reduction in lighting and the duration of daylight hours, providing a familiar or at least approximately familiar level of lighting. For sour, you can set the backlight or just move the bushes on the lightest window sills. The plant does not like direct sun even at this time.

Neat watering and humidity

Without exception, all sour acids gradually begin to water less by winter, reducing watering from September-October and drying the soil between waterings a little more. They stop watering only for four-leaf clover (Oxalis Deppe), all the rest just water much more accurately.

It is better to prefer such irrigation, for which the substrate will dry out in the upper third or even to the middle of the pot, is usual for sour summer watering with drying of the soil in the upper layer.

Humidity is one of the most “hazardous” parameters when selecting conditions for keeping oxygen in winter. The thing is that oxalis at this time are sensitive to a combination of coolness and high humidity, heat and low humidity.

If sour acids contain at a temperature of about 18 degrees (or higher), the air humidity should be average and increase proportionally with increasing temperature: the hotter the room, the higher the humidity.

Spraying in the winter is unacceptable. If the air is too dry, simple trays with moist moss or pebbles are installed for the sour, room fountains or they move the plant closer to humidifiers and groups of tropical hygrophilous species.

Feeding is not necessary to stop

For all types of sour acids, which continue to bloom even in autumn and winter, stop feeding completely - far from improving the idea. For triangular oxalis, Beauvais and other species that can bloom for more than 9 months, in the winter, feeding is reduced by 2-3 times, but does not stop. Fertilizers are applied at a frequency of 1 time per month, reducing the concentration of fertilizers by half compared with summer top dressing.

For the sour, which shed leaves or stop flowering, do not feed.

Hygiene is a priority

All oxalys that retain leaves in winter require frequent examinations and attention. Leaving dry leaves, fading cuttings and flowers, allowing the substrate to clog under the bush just in the winter is the biggest mistake. All damaged or sagging parts must be removed as soon as possible.

The “cleaner” the bushes will be (even if you do not have to leave many leaves), the lower the risk that oxalis will seriously suffer from pests and diseases during the winter.

Observing the plant is also worthwhile for another reason: this way you can take timely measures by rearranging the acidic to brighter places and raising the humidity to a comfortable level.

Wintering of garden acidic acid in rooms

This houseplant is becoming increasingly popular in decorating gardens, balconies, terraces and even urban flower beds. Thanks to the elegant appearance of the bushes and the inimitable variability of the colors, the acid is planted in flower pots and open soil. But only the most cold-resistant species can winter in the ground, and even then with careful shelter under a layer of leaves, spruce branches and non-woven materials.

To save the next year, thermophilic acidic need to be moved to the premises. If winter sorrows have preserved leaves and even bloom, and the plants have been dug up in advance, before frost, then the rules for their wintering are no different from indoor sour.

If the oxalis dropped the leaves, then it is better to keep the prepared nodules in the same way as any bulbous ones — outside the soil or in the “intermediate” substrate:

  • bulbs after digging are cleaned and dried in a shaded, ventilated room;
  • Having laid the bulbs in a cardboard box or sanitized sand, peat, coconut substrate or sawdust, oxalis is sent for the winter together with other bulbs in a cool, dry room.

Winter offset for forcing flowering bushes

Lush growth and massive flowering of sour oxides can be obtained at any time, but for this the plant needs to correctly control the dormant period. Fashionable sour oxides, especially the four-leaf sorrel Depp, are often expelled in the same way as bulb ones for the holidays. After all, the plant, nicknamed the happy clover, is becoming an increasingly popular gift in the form of a living bouquet.

Regardless of the type of acid, in order to achieve atypical flowering from it, you need to lower the temperature within the limits acceptable for each type of indicators and limit watering for 6-8 weeks. Oxalis blooms 30-40 days after the resumption of normal watering and transfer back to heat.

At the same time, Depp acid, which completely drops leaves, must be kept at an air temperature of 10 to 12 degrees, and the remaining species at temperatures from 12 to 16 degrees.
